Hey everyone. Come on out and see my new pieces hanging in the gallery at this years Naughty Gras celebration. I have 5 pieces that I am showing that are available for purchase as limited edition prints! The main event will be taking place tonight and tomorrow, Feb. 6th and 7th. Also if you can make it, you will be able to see me do a live painting both nights. Art will be in the air (as well as paint!) and the drinks will be flowing. Come out and join us for a great night of fun!

So what is going on in the Midwest? Oh you know, the usual. Farmers milkin cows. People getting ready to plant their crops. Good ole boys talkin bout winter storm Velma and wishin for some sun. Rockabilly zombies partying till the wee hours of the morning! Wickiwicki what?!?!? Yep. That’s right, Madison Wisconsin is about to be overrun with Zombillies!!!! The Greater Midwest Bodyart Fest! This is going to be a fun one to say the least. If you want to come out and see some crazy good paint, on live models, and learn from the best artists in the industry, this is the place to be. The convention will be loaded with tons of classes. The actual date’s of the event are March 19th through the 22nd at the Sheriton hotel.
I will be on hand as the official photographer for the event. And I look forward to seeing what all of the instructors and attendees come up with. I’m hoping to get some time to pull out my paints and join in on the fun. Classes go on through the day and then are followed by jams at night, where all involved are encouraged to pull out their kits and paint till they pass out! Saturday will be the bodypaint competition, followed by the red carpet award ceremony. Yeah no, you read it right, I said the Midwest!!!

Hope to see you there!
For those of you who know about the Naughty Gras show at the Koken Art Factory here in St. Louis this past weekend you got to see a few of my new pieces that I have been working on. It was an honor to be in the show. I was one of hundreds of artist that was selected and even more humbled by the fact that all 5 of my submissions made it in.
Some of you know and some of you don’t but a new phase of my work is body painting. I have been dipping into the art form over the last year or 2 and it is becoming a driving factor for many pieces I have in the works now. I will include here a few of the pieces that I entered into the gallery showing. Both of these seemed to be fan favorites. They are both available as signed limited edition fine art prints.
I am always looking for models who would be interested in being painted for an art piece but I am also available for hire to people that would like to set up a private painting for their own personal artwork. Feel free to contact me and I can answer any questions you may have.
This year the FPBA Convention has moved right here to the Midwest! Karen, the owner who lives here in St. Louis decided it was time to bring it back here to her home town. In years past it has been hosted in Orlando and Las Vegas. Fine by me! I am happy to have it here, and be brought in as the event’s photographer. I will be there photographing the works and labors of many of the attending artists there.
The event will feature face painters, body painters, and balloon twisters, with classes being held and many masters of the crafts will be on hand. I have now been to the Fabaic Convention down in Ft. Lauderdale twice now (as a painter ) and have met many of the instructors and I can attest that the classes are well worth attending! Who knows, I may even get the chance to pull out my own paints and throw down some works. Classes will be held November 10th through the 15th. And it’s still not too late to register!!
Semi quietly in the background of being a photographer I have been honing my skills as an artist. I will share with you a piece that I got to paint, shoot, and edit. Enjoy! As an artist I can tell you there is no greater feeling of accomplishment than when you can start with a vision, and take it all the way through to the end result.
Hey everyone. I wanted to share a great opportunity with you from my friends at Metal Mural. They are right now looking for submissions for a photo contest that they are running. They will be selecting images to display at all of the trade shows they will be showing at this year. Imagine your image printed on an eye popping piece for all of your colleagues to drool over!! And if that wasn’t enough they will be handing out prizes to the top images of each category. If you have never seen your work printed on metal I can tell you first hand that you will be ecstatic about the results, and metal mural is the best at what they do. But for the contest all you need to do is go to their site and submit your best image. There is nothing to lose, and who knows your work may be touring the country this year!!
Here is a link to the the contest. Good Luck! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Metal-Mural/183748298329104?v=app_254553244581393&rest=1
Hey everyone. Tis the season, and Westcott is at it again with some holiday cheer and oh yeah, gifts too!! You say you would like some new gear for Christmas? Well all you have to do is check out the Westcott giveaway right here.http://bit.ly/uo1C9v
The team at Westcott has already started preparing for another great show this September. We are currently putting together some great looks and sets to make sure that there is something for everyone, and once again the shootout booth will be sure not to dissapoint.
This years themes are safely locked away in the vault, but they will be right up there with the amazing ideas from the past. Eric Eggly and I will be on the showroom floor once again to help, offer advice, and showcase the new flagship of Westcott’s continuous lighting systems the new Spiderlite TD6. If you have been to the shootout both in the past you know how cool this opportunity is, if not, imagine having a set built for you, pro models hired in for you, the best lighting equipment brought in, and all you have to do is play! Yep not kidding!
You are encouraged to bring your cameras, test the lights out and who knows, maybe even win some prizes!!!
Here are a few edits from my own shots from the past few years.
Supershoots is at it again! After taking a brief few minutes to catch some breath and get some editing in, I will be heading out to this years Hit the Lodge event to help out mentoring, working with photographers and models. If you are a photographer wanting to learn more about the art of shooting with models this is a great environment to do it. There are seasoned models there to help you, as well as a talented group of photographers to answer questions and offer pointers if you would like them. I have been to a few as a student and a teacher and I can tell you they are always a great time. This year it falls on June 18th through the 22nd. For more information check out www.supershoots.net. Tell JT that MJ sent you!
It was great meeting up with old friends and discovering new ones at the Photoshop World Expo in Orlando earlier this month. After leaving Orlando I was home for about 9 hours before leaving for my next job in Kansas City, and just now getting home so please pardon the delay. Once again the Westcott Shootout Booth was a huge success and drew a large crowd of photographers and general spectators every day of the event. For those of you unfamiliar with the shootout, it is a 4 stage set that we build full with props, models, and lighting setups so people can shoot and learn about lighting, and working with models. Once again we had several talented models, and the makeup artistry of Candace Corey to thank for the success. Several of the concepts proved to be a big hit including a fully dressed Samurai warrior, a Geisha, a pinup girl, an African warrior, Marie Antoinette, Harley Quinn, Rapunzel, Queen of Hearts, steampunk, and many more. As soon as I get some time to work some images up I’ll post them here, but I am sure you will find the net flooded with images from the event soon. For all of you that I got a chance to work with and talk to it was a pleasure, and I hope that I was able to help you whether it was understanding lighting and exposures, working with models, or any other bit of advice I could pass on. Anyone I met there feel free to send me a shout, I’d love to hear from you and even see some images from the booth.
